You can't Control what you are not aware of

How many times have you heard people talk about the mental game and think "wow, that's a great talk, I'm going to use this now when I play" only to realize that you have nothing to use. That person just talked to you and gave you a motivational speech on the mental side of the game. If you want something that you can use in practice or the game to track your mental state and learn when, why, and how your mind work, these journals are for you. These are mental trackers that allow you to see the patterns your mind creates, what triggers you have internally and externally, and what you currently do and what you need to do that helps you get back to normal (even state), faster. Knowing these things will help you become a more consistent player focused on the right things at the right times.

1. Know Your Weaknesses

Every player in every sport has a weakness. In golf it may be the driver, in baseball it may be too many strike outs. Let's dive deeper into learning about why those are your weaknesses, it may just come down to how you think.

2. Learn your patterns

We are going to break down how you think. With colors (green = great mindset, yellow = good mindset, red = bad mindset). With marking down how you are after every at bat / hole / shot, we can start to look at patters on what made you green vs. red, or what helps you go from red back to green.

3. learn what works for you

Once you know your patters, you can now start to think about what works for you. What pre shot / pre pitch thought works for you. When you create these constant thoughts (pre pitch / pre shot thoughts) that work for you, it will help you become a more consistent player.

4. Control Your mind

Every opponent, their fans, even friends will try to get into your mind. By learning your triggers and what helps you get back to green or yellow faster can help avoid the situation becoming too big, or letting people get under your skin. You can start to control your own mind. 

Why Focus on the Mental Game?

The mental game is something that people have started to study a lot of lately. You can learn a lot about yourself from sports. In order to really learn about you mind, you must keep a proper journal of your thoughts during the games and practices. If you are painfully truthful with a journal, you will get the most out of it, otherwise you will remain the same and unaware of how your mind works.
